The Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Solomon Enang has condemned the Akwa ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for not creating bonds of friendship across party lines in his governance
Enang was reacting to the announcement made by Udom at the PDP secretariat in Uyo recently, that he ,( the Governor) will award contracts for inter-ministerial direct labour projects only for PDP members at all levels after the party had done a comprehensive data base.
Enang who was speaking with newsmen in Uyo said “Gov Udom Emmanuel is a servant of Akwa Ibom people. Every money that come to the state should be handled for the interest of AkwaIbom people, either APC, PDP or whatever party”
Obviously alluding to the way President Muhammadu Buhari appointed persons who were not APC members into his cabinet because he went for technocrats and those who can deliver the goods, Enang added that to sustain peace, there was need to carry everyone along
He further said that the 2017 budget of Akwa Ibom state should have been sensitive to the current recession and as such would have paid more attention to agriculture and feeding the hungry population instead of investing on areas that are not of any immediate need.
“For quick economic recovery, Akwa Ibom state government should do what Kebbi, Benue and other states are doing by investing heavily on agriculture”
The Senator also urged the state government to stop blackmailing the federal government by saying that it is starving it of funds
“Akwa Ibom state government should stop blackmailing the federal government because it is part of the decision making of the federal government and have so far received greater part of the share of the national wealth. Instead of blackmailing the federal government, the state government should raise issues at the National Economic Council” Enang stated
