2019: Onna Youths Move Against Udom …Allege Governor’s Neglect Failure To Keep Promises

The Awa Progressive Youth Forum, a front line socio-political youth body in Onna Local Government Area in Governor Udom’s Awa Clan has threatened to abandon the Governor in his 2019 gubernatorial ambition, citing the Governor’s refusal to carry them along in the scheme of things

Speaking to our correspondent in Onna, the duo of Emmanuel Ekwere, President and Clinton Akpaette, P.R.O said the Governor has abandoned the group, “having used us before and during the elections”.

” ever since he was sworn into office two years ago, the Governor has refused to attend to us even through his personal assistant on youth matters despite all efforts to make him remember his promises to us during the period leading to his emergence as Governor “, Ekwere said.

The group lambasted the State Chief Executive for being selective in his empowerment programme and infrastructural development.

” He promised to build a skill acquisition centre for training of welders, fitters and oil and gas technicians for us but uptill now he has refused to respond to our letters sent through courier to him”, he averred.

Also speaking, the P.R.O, Mr Clinton Akpaette said the group has been used and dumped while those who never contributed to the success of the Governor mainly from Lagos have benefited in one way or the other from a government they helped to institute.

He said, “we have to speak to the press because all avenues to see the Governor or make him listen to us have been exhausted”.

” we have resolved not to support his second term bid if he does not fulfill his electoral promises to us”, Akpaette said.

He has done a lot for the State within two years but he has nothing to impact on our lives directly, we need jobs, skill training centre, Starter Parks for those of us who received skill training from self efforts and financial empowerment for those who intend to engage in farming “, he maintained.
