Akwa united Football Club will hope to bounce back to winning ways when they host newly promoted Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu on Matchday 3 of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL on Sunday.

The Promise Keepers won their first match against Rangers International in Uyo before suffering a slim defeat in the hands of Go Round in Omoku in midweek.

Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team will fancy their chances against Yobe Desert Stars, a team they defeated 4-0 on their way to lifting Aiteo Cup last year.

The Promise Keepers are unbeaten at the Nest of Champions in their last 20 league matches comprising 17 wins and three draws.

They will be expecting to extend their unbeaten home record this weekend when they take on Yobe Desert Stars who have one win and one defeat this season.

Coach Abdu Maikaba told the media department of the club that he expect his boys to be more cynical in front of goal.

” After losing in midweek, we have another opportunity to bounce back and get our season’s aspiration back on track”.

“We played well in midweek, we created many good goal scoring chances but we lost the match. We have looked back at what happened and we know what to do to correct those mistakes”.

” For us to win matches, we need to score goals and we have a team that any player from any position is capable of scoring. All we need to do is to be more calm and composed in front of goal”.

The Matchday 3 encounter will kick off at 4pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday
