Uyo Council Boss Suspends Revenue Collection At Akpan Andem Market


The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Elder Imoh Okon has order a total stoppage on the collection of all revenue in Akpan Andem market for five days, beginning from Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th March, 2018.
The Chairman announced the surprise today while meeting with the traders in the market to formerly present the newly inaugurated members of Uyo Investment and Revenue Committee to the management and traders of the Akpan Andem market.
Speaking, the Chairman said the gesture is to give the traders a sigh of relief from the daily payment of revenue covering daily toll, sanitation, electricity, tickets, stall age among others.
While presenting the new Uyo Investment and Revenue Committee headed by Mr. Chris Etim, Imoh Okon said the market is ripe for operational bureaucracy, maintaining that henceforth Uyo Local Government Council will be operating in the market through the committee.
He further reiterated the resolve of his administration towards repositioning the market and make trading profitable to the operators of the market.
Among those in company of the Chairman were the Head of Service, Mrs. Ime Jaja and Directors of the Local Government Council.
It could be recalled that Elder Imoh Okon had on Thursday 1st March, 2018 opened the corporate office of the Uyo Investment and Revenue Committee at No. 159 Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo.
