Udom Is Provoking Oro – Ita Awak… Lie! He Is Developing Us -Bishop Ante

The Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress Engr. Ita Awak has alleged that the administration of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is continuing with what he described as marginalization and underdevelopment of the five Oro local governments started by his predecessor in office, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio

He made the allegation yesterday during a phone-in programme on planet F.M. Uyo.

According to Awak the PDP under chief Godswill Akpabio did not give Oro nation any political office in the eight years.

“Oro nation is the third leg of the Tripod holding Akwa Ibom State, yet the PDP during Mr. Godswill Akpabio’s era ensured that we got nothing in Akwa Ibom.

The Deputy Governor went to Ibibio nation, SSG was Ibibio, Speaker was Ibibio, Head of service was Annang “he stated.

According to Awak, the threat to the existence of Oro in Akwa Ibom has been continued by Deacon Udom Emmanuel adding that “Right now the PPD Chairman and the Speaker are from Etinan Federal Constituency, while the Annangs that produced Godswill Akpabio have still taken the post of Deputy Governor. Ibibio still retain the Head of civil service. “This is painful. Oro has nothing, yet somebody will come and pontificate for me to believe that Oro nation where I come from is part of Akwa Ibom state. This is not fair “he stated.

Awak noted that what is even more disturbing is that during a recruitment exercise conducted before Governor Akpabio exited office in 2015, over two hundred persons were employed from Essien Udim LGA along into the local Government service while the whole of Oro nation got 175.

Explaining that the kind of injustice Oro nation is facing in Akwa Ibom state in the hands of PDP is what leads to violent militancy, he called on Governor Emmanuel to take steps to reverse the trend.

But in a reaction, the South-South Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bishop Etim  Ante debunked Ita Awak’s allegation stating that Governor Udom Emmanuel in one year has taken steps to show that he wants to give Oro a sense of belonging.

According to him, most dilapidated roads, including mainland, Anwana Esin, Efiat and many others have been constructed and commissioned by Governor Emmanuel.

Explaining that his election was supported by the Governor, Ante said it was also to give Oro nation a sense of belonging.

The Governor he added has also attracted companies such as AMECOM and the Tank Farm saying “so the Governor has not only given us fish, he has also given us nets to go for fishing”.

Bishop Ante who assured the people of Oro that the PDP government will ensure they get more appointments warned them to avoid violence in making their request; as this according to him has never brought about any fruitful results.
