I was A Traitor In APC – AK Lawmaker


A member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, Mr. Asuquo Archibong has said that he was a traitor in the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Political platform he was elected into office. Speaking at Oyubia, Urue Offong/Oruko Council headquarters on Wednesday during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP campaign rally for the forth-coming local government election, Archibong who recently decamped to PDP said “I was never an APC member. APC was just a taxi to my destination.”
The lawmaker further said that he and many of his supporters have no regret to betray PDP.
Meanwhile, a source told The Sensor that Archibong had to betray his former party in order to get the PDP booties.
The source further said that the lawmaker who was the only member from the opposition party in the State was not carried along in sharing of money that comes from the Hilltop Mansion, thus, the decision to switch alliance in order not to go empty hands in the remaining 19 months to the end of his tenure.
It would be recalled that Archibong’s recent defection from APC to PDP attracted mix reactions from members of his constituency. While many hailed what they described as “a wise decision”, others said that he has betrayed those that fought seriously to ensure his emergence.
Those who are supporting his defection are said to have believed that, the lawmaker who has not made any impact as a result of being starved of funds would now have the opportunity to serve the people as he will have access to money given to the House by the executive.
