Onna Women Can Never Support APC – Leader


The President and Founder of AkwaIbom Market Women Frontline Organization, Senior  Deaconess (Obongawan) Grace Joseph Bassey has described as false allegations that the chapter leader of the organisation in Onna local government area, Mrs. Comfort Bassey and other members are supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area. She was speaking when the Onna chapter President led other executive council members on a courtesy call on the state president.
Lamenting the culture of pilling down leaders in AkwaIbom State, ObongawanBassey said it was inconceivable for people to spread rumours that the Onna leadership of the market women association were attending the APC solemn assembly held recently when indeed they were at the Women Development Centre to Uyo to declare their support for the administration of Governor Udom Gabriel Emanuel and pray for his success in office.
Declaring her great respect for the Onna chapter leadership of the association, Obongawan Bassey warned those behind the act of blackmail to desist from it in other not to incur the wrath of God.
Describing Mrs. Comfort Bassey as a dependable and courageous leader, the state President, urged other members of the association to be unwavering in their support for a worthy leader and the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The state President used the opportunity to thank the Onna chapter for taking active part in the Eket senatorial district rally for Governor Udom Emmanuel held recently, describing it as a testimony that the Governor was the choice of AkwaIbom people.
Advising the Onna chapter to ignore all attempts to disintegrate them, Obongawan Bassey bestowed on the President of Onna chapter, the award of Best Women Mobilizer.
Speaking earlier, the Onna chapter president Mrs. Comfort Bassey thanked Obonganwan Grace Joseph Bassey for her sterling leadership qualities and assured her of the solidarity of all market women to actualize the goals of the organization.
She also presented to the state president plans and programmes of the Onna chapter of the Market Women Frontline Organisation.
