New Cabinet Saga: Gov Udom Sacks Council Chairman

Politics of intrigues, back-stabbing and power struggle was said to have been responsible for the forced resignation of Barr. Samuel Udokoh, the Ukanafun transition Committee Chairman.

The Sensor authoritatively gathered that Bar. Udokoh was forced to resign following series of petitions sent to the Governor Udom Emanuel in the wake of the governor’s decision to nominate the chairman’s uncle, Obong Udo Samuel Ekpenyong as commissioner in his new cabinet.

It was learnt that the petitioner had vowed to ensure the governor failed woefully in any political ambition if he dare allows one family to pocket the local government as transition chairman and commissioner, the petitioners who had earlier staged a protest to the governor had also vowed to dump PDP if he failed take do away one office from Udo Ekpenyong’s family.

The petition was said to have touched the governor who promised to take action to save the situation.

Governor Udom while swearing in the new commissioners and a successor to Udokoh yesterday, said that he took the decision to replace the transition chairman after realizing that he was a direct nephew to Obong Udo Ekpenyong whose second son, Ekpenyong Ekpenyong is special Assistant to the governor.

It would be recalled that the Secretary to the State Government Sir Etekamba Umoren had in a press statement, announced the resignation of Udokoh as Transition Chairman.

Umoren said, “His Excellency will swear in Barr. Abasiono Jackson Udomfo as the newly appointed Transition Committee Chairman for Ukanafun local government area following the resignation of Bar. Samuel Udokoh, the immediate past transition committee chairman.”

Until the forced resignation, Barr. Udokoh had served as Transition Committee Chairman for one year and was barely five months into his second term in office.

Meanwhile, governor Udom Emmanuel has extolled Barr. Udokoh for his humility and commitment exhibited during his time as transition committee chairman. He urged him to continue to work to support his successor to succeed.
