It would be recalled that Governor Udom,  was reported to haveduring a meeting with some People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders, gave certain conditions for aspirants who intend to contest the council election.
Cardinal among the conditions was in the area of qualification which the governor was quoted to have said that such  aspirant must arm himself or herself with educational qualification of at least first degree or Higher National Diploma, HND.But speaking with our correspondent, Barr. Abotti said that such condition will not make a holder of degree or HND  a better chairman. He said that there are people that have intellect and what it takes to give the people good leadership and not degree which many might have purchased it.
The former Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA , Ikot Ekpene branch said that except the governor wants to create job for the unemployed graduates, the issue of being a degree holder as a condition to contest the election does not hold waters.
He advised the governor to allow those that have the basic qualification as stipulated by the law to contest the election provided they have what they can offer to the people.
Barr. Abotti also called on the governor to give all the aspirants a level playing field so that the people can make their choice.
Our correspondent reports that the governor had insisted the forth-coming primary and election will not be business as usual as according to him, there will not be any imposition of candidates.
