Investigation Of Alleged Fraud: Itu Chairman Snubs AKHA

The Transition Committee Chairman of Itu local government area, Mrs. Elsie Esara yesterday failed to honor the invitation by the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, a meeting which was to look into the allegations involving mismanagement of Itu local government funds, lack of due process, using the Local Government funds to settle bills for the First Lady, using the Local Government Fund to settle stakeholders in Itu such as; Sen. Anietie Okon, Mr. Akan Okon, Mr. Ebong amongst others.

Reacting to Mrs. Elsie Esara’s absence, the Member representing Essien Udium, Mr. Nse Ntuen stated, that even as a former Local Government Chairman and presently the AKHA member, “if I am invited by the House or any agency ,

I never fail to appear but she (Esara) has disrespected this Assembly”.

Princess Felicia Bassey, Deputy Speaker expressed bitterness over the absence of Esara whom she described as mere appointed Transition Chairman, saying that it is an insult to the 6th Assembly.

Also commenting, Elder Aniekan Uko, pleaded with the Committee to give Mrs. Esara benefit of the doubt, and urged the Committee to serve her another invitation.

The Committee Chairman, Mr. Idongesit Ntekpere after maintaining that Esara received the Committee’s invitation but failed to appear or put a call through, extended the invitation to all the Transition Committee Members to appear before the Committee. Also to appear before the Committee on Friday 5th of May is Director of Works both past and present, Director of Finance, both past and present, Head of Service, both past and present.
