Industrialization: Gov Udom Accused Of Developing Hometown Alone

Some stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom State project have reacted to the one-sided siting of industries in Akwa Ibom State by Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The Sensor gathered that apart from major roads investment enjoyed by the senatorial district where the governor comes from, virtually all the industries are sited in the governor’s village, Onna.

The metering company, syringe and the petrochemical industries are all located in Governor Udom’s federal constituency.

While responding to the allegations that he is selfish, the Governor told newsmen recently that he didn’t influence the siting of any industry in the state.

The Governor said in some cases, it was communities that agreed to offer their land and allow peace reign, so that the companies can operate without hitch that get the companies.

In other cases the Governor said the companies decide where they want the factory to be located and he could not do otherwise.

He called on Akwa Ibom people to unite and see the industries, no matter where they are located, as belonging to the state and not that community.
