Increased Crime In AK: Police Bans Use Of Tinted Vehicles


Following the increased activities of criminals in the State, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reiterated the ban on use of tinted vehicles without permit. It has also declared as an offence, driving of vehicle with covered or defaced registration number.
In a press statement issued yesterday by the Command and signed by the State Police Relation Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, the Police said that massive enforcement of the Laws prohibiting the use of tinted vehicles, concealed and covered plate numbers will soon begin.
It warned that violators will be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.
Meanwhile, the Police in the State has vowed to arrest perpetrators of last Sunday killings in Ukanafun Local Government Area in which three persons including a Sister to the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Udo Ekpenyong was shot dead by gunmen.
The gunmen had stormed Ikot Oku Usung village in the early hours of Sunday and killed three persons. The Sunday killing was said to be second in two days following a similar killing in Ikot Udo Obobo village on Friday.
The security operatives is said to be up in arms against the criminals that have terrorized parts of Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
