Gov’s Aide Kicks Against Jungle Justice, Saves Alledged Criminal

But not for the timely intervention by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong, an alledged criminal would have been sent to the land beyound by an angry mob.
The governor’s aide who was on Oron road route, spotted the irate crowd beating up the alleged criminal had to step in to save him while the rest of the gang were said to have fled.
Ebong decried the wanton disregard for rule of law and order in the State and advised citizens not to take laws into their hands but to liaise with security agencies on issues bothering crime.

The suspected armed robber and his fleeing gang members were said to have robbed a filling Station along Oron Road in Uyo.

Report has it that two others had already escaped while one was caught with guns and money.

From our sources, the thief was caught by angry youths from the area after he and two others now at-large had succeeded in their operation. Luckily he would have been killed when he was caught if not for the Senior Governor’s Aide timely intervention.

The scene created gridlock along the busy road as angry mob who made frantic effort to mete out‘ jungle justice’ on the suspected criminal was turned down when the Governor’s Aide whisked the suspected criminal away and handed him over to E Division, Shelter Afrique Police Station.

Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana proved abortive, as his phone lines were not reachable, as at the time of filing this report.
