The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has said that in 2017, he and youths supporting his administration will not tolerate those he called idiots appointed by the federal government, who come to the State to make statements that cause disunity. Udom stated this while making his remarks during the 9th annual solemn assembly of the state government, Monday, “you cannot lead people without humility but let people not take our humility and Christianity for weakness. Thank God, if you have been given an appointment by the federal government, but I want to say that in, 2017, we will not tolerate anyone who will come to the state and make comments to disunite the state.
I have the guarantee of the youths that we won’t allow such people go freely.” Udom said.
Although the Governor did not mention what kind of comments made by those he called idiots that are offensive to his government, neither did he state what will be done to the federal government appointees he called idiots whose comments won’t be tolerated, he went on to say that despite the fact that the theme of the solemn assembly is “I will show mercy” not all Akwa Ibom people will enjoy God’s mercies.
“I can tell you that this will be a glorious year. Your already heard all the messages by the Pastors, prayers of intercession and rededication of the state and they all had one central theme of mercy but not everyone will enjoy the mercy and goodness of God. Those who spread false rumours to cause disaffection in the state will not enjoy any mercy”.
The Governor while quoting Matthew 7:12 in which Jesus urged Christians to do unto others as they would that others do to them, told Akwa Ibom people that the general rule for receiving mercy is to always do unto others as you will have them do to you.
During the prayers to rededicate the state, the Prelate Emeritus, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang prayed that the fire of God should consume anyone who opposed the Governor.
He specifically said writers and journalists who attack Governor Udom Emmanuel will be consumed by the fire of God.
Praying for the unity of Akwa Ibom people, Bishop Emmah Isong declared that Akwa Ibom people do not recognize and respect their leaders.
I am from Akwa Ibom State and have travelled all over the world.
I can say that Akwa Ibom people are good in Church and in other endeavours. But the problem of Akwa Ibom people is that they have no respect for their leaders, they don’t recognize their leaders. There cannot be five leaders at the same time. There can only be one. For now, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and his wife are the leaders and Akwa people must respect them.
The event was graced by Christian Association President in Nigeria, Rev. Supo Ayokunle who led other CAN officials from the state to pray for the government and people of the state.
There was a sermon on God’s mercy for Akwa Ibom by Pastor Isaiah of The Apostolic Church, Ministration and dancing.
