Gov Udom Denies Ex-Council Leaders Severance Pay

Former council Vice Chairmen in Akwa Ibom State are wondering what their offence could be since the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration has denied them their severance benefits.

The Council Vice Chairmen are even agitated the more because Council Chairman and Councillors who served at the same time as they did have all been paid their severance benefits.

The Forum of former Vice Chairmen who served in different local government areas of the state has therefore made a passionate appeal to Governor Udom Emmanuel to help facilitate the urgent release of their severance allowance and gratuity to enable them cope with the harsh economic situation in the land.

The forum comprising of former Vice Chairmen that served in their respective local government areas between 2008-2011 and those of 2012-2015, in a press statement jointly endorsed by sir Luke Udom of Etim Ekpo local government area and Mr. Victor Henry From Eket local government area, stated that the urgent release of their well deserved entitlement will help to alleviate the sufferings and hardship being faced by members of the forum.

The statement read thus “We are bold to request for the payment of this our inalienable entitlement”. The statement added that most of the former vice chairmen have remained very loyal members of the ruling peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have contributed in one small way or the other towards the success of the Udom Emmanuel led administration in the state.

“A greater number of us are deteriorating in health coupled with the harsh economic situation in the country” The statement maintained.

They have therefore pleaded with the state Governor to please come to their aid by giving approval towards the payment of their severance allowance and gratuity.
