Fuel Crisis: AKHA Summons IPMAN, Seven Energy

The leadership of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has prevailed on the State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmauel, the Petroleum Task Force, Independent petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria(IPMAN) and other relevant agencies to urgently wade into the sudden hike in the pump price of petroleum products in Akwa Ibom State, with a view to preferring solutions to the ugly trend, while it also mandated the Independent petroleum Marketers association of Nigeria and representatives of Seven Energy to appear before it to give clarifications on the nagging issue.

The call was necessitated by matter of urgent public importance brought to the floor of the House by the Deputy Speaker $ Member representing Okobo State Constituency, Princess Felicia Bassey on the hardship posed on the masses by the increase in the fuel pump price perpetrated by marketers of petroleum products.

Making the call on authorities concerned, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr Onofiok Luke, wondered why Akwa Ibom People were not enjoying the steady and moderated government approved price other States of the Federation are enjoying ,and urged the relevant

authorities concerned to step up their monitoring machinery in curbing the trend and compel the perpetrators to abide by the approved pump price, in order not to inflict pains on the already fractured masses.

The Speaker commended Princess Felicia Bassey for being responsive to the plights of the Masses especially the poor, describing the matter of public urgent importance brought by her as apt and timely.

Earlier in her presentations, while addressing the Assembly, the Deputy Speaker noted that timely intervention of relevant authorities on the fuel crisis will help alleviate the sufferings of Akwa Ibom People and stabilize the socio-economic activities of the State.

Those who also spoke in favour of the matter of urgent public importance brought by the Deputy Speaker included Mr.Friday Iwok, Member for Abak State Constituency, Mr.Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Member for Ikono/Ini State Constituency, Mr.Asukwo Archiving,Member for Urueoffong/Uruko,among others.
