Frustration: A’Ibom Man, 45, Commits Suicide

For members of Nto Udofia family, Otoro Abak, Abak Local Government Area, it is the shock of the century following an “abominable act” by one member of the family.
The Sensor Crime Desk gathered that a 45 year old man, Aniekan Okon Ben on Sunday night did the unthinkable when he commit suicide.
The father of five children, three females and two males, who is a commercial driver was said to have committed what the family described as an abomination, as a result of frustration.
A family member who gave his name simply as Umoh, told our Crime Desk that such an act has taken place in the history of the community and described it as an unfortunate. He added that it will require cleansing before the corpse is buried.
A member of the family told The Sensor Crime Desk that their father had earlier attempted to commit suicide inside the house but was persuaded not to do it because of the children. He added that on the fateful night, he had gone outside to ease himself only for him to get to a nearby tree and hang himself.
The family member further said that when the children waited for so long without seeing him, return, they decided to look for him and was eventually seen hanged stone dead.
Although the immediate cause could not be ascertained, Ben was said to have complained of his frustration as a result of hardship.
The family is yet to carry out the cleansing as at the time of filing this report.
