The Akwa Ibom-based Amateur League team, El-Enak FC was yesterday grouped alongside their two rivals, Ibeku Young Stars, Stallions FC of Umuahia, Cross Stars FC of Calabar and Akamkpa Youth FC, in the inter-state’s Amateur League tournament. Speaking with El-Enak Team Manager, Chris Umodem, who stressed the strength of those grouped with his Team as Teams to beat.
“I am not too happy that the Team (El-Enak) has to be drawn with most of the strongest Teams in the tournament, but it is a game of soccer and we will have to fortify our Team to be able to leave up to expectation.
“When I received a call from one of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), telling me about the draws, I was not too happy, but I decided to cheer up not to kill the morale of the players. “Though, we were grouped alongside with the Stallions FC of Umuahia and Cross Stars of Calabar in last year’s edition, which saw us bowing down in the preliminary stage, but we won’t allow that to happy again”.
“We will do all it takes to grab the trophy at the end of the competition, as the players are in good form and determination to prove a point in this year’s tournament, “Umodem noted. El-Enak will take on Ibeku Young Stars on Saturday at Uyo High Schoo
