The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Solomon Enang has challenged Governor Udom Emmanuel to disclose to Akwa Ibom people the value of money his administration has so far invested in the industries the government claims to have built in the past three years.
He was speaking during an interview programme on planet FM Uyo, yesterday. “Before you go and make screaming headlines that I said Governor Udom is doing well in Akwa Ibom let me say here that Akwa Ibom State Government led by my Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel should be able to tell us how much of the State government’s money is put in the syringe factory, metering company and so on.
What we know is that these companies are all private investments and that is all.”
Enang said it is wrong for the State Government to count private investments as part of its achievements in three years.
Governor Udom, Enang maintained has tried to secure lives and property in some parts of the State but said the insecurity in Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam, and Ikot Ekpene were serious setback to the development of the State.
Recounting the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari, he noted that it is as a result of Buhari’s commitment to ensure all States develop that monies are approved and given to them from the federation account adding that “my Governor is able to build roads, tomato factory, coconut plantation and other projects because Akwa Ibom is the largest revenue earner from the federal allocation and these monies are given to the Governor by the Federal Government” .
According to him, the promise of securing Nigerians made by President Buhari has been achieved with the degrading of Boko Haram and rescue of some of the Chibok Girls captured.
In the area of infrastructure, Senator Enang stated that at no time had any federal government intervened like Buhari is doing now on building new roads and reconstructing others saying “Money has been released over and above what other governments have done and this is why you see the level of road construction going on across Nigeria.
The Buhari administration’s Social Investment Programmes are second to none. The transport sector has received a boost with release of funds to develop all the different aspects of transportation and the railway.”
Enang insisted that in 2019, the All Progressives Congress would work hard to take over Akwa Ibom State and institute good governance.
