Dr. Uko, whose fertile sense of administration and impressive performance has strategically repositioned the institution in the comity of Colleges of Education in Nigeria in terms of quality infrastructure, manpower development, enthronement of sound academic Culture, discipline, sound morals and general image of the only State owned Teacher -training institution .
It would be recalled that prior to Dr. Patrick Uko’s appointment as the acting Provost of the College in 2011 and substantive Provost in 2012 respectively, the College has had a history of perennial infrastructural deficit, occasioned by paucity of funds and lack of strong synergy between the Management of the College and previous State Governments, but Uko’s significant strides has consigned the ugly scenarios into the dustbin of history.
Historically, Dr. Patrick Uko remains the only Provost of the College to have organized Convocation twice within a tenure in Office, while prompt issuance of Student’s results and certificates were given priority attention.
Dr. Uko ,whose glorious exit from the College has been greatly missed by the College Community ,was able to boost the morale of principal officers of the College by securing about eight brand new vehicles to them and holistically transformed all sectors of the College.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Provost of College of Education,Afaha Nsit has gladly accepted the appointment Professor Mathew Ekpo, a Professor of Microbiology from the University of Uyo, as his Successor.
Uko who was visibly elated for the successful completion of his tenure as the 5th Provost of the College, thanked the Governing Council, Management, Union Leaders, Staff, Students and the
College Community for their support to the success of his administration.
Dr. Uko promised to support the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the College in order to take the institution to its apogee of greatness.
