APC State Chairmanship: ‘I Will Reposition The Party If Elected’ – Udoma Ekarika

One of the aspirants for the Saturday’ State Congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Dr. Udoma Bob Ekarika, has promised to reposition the party to win elections if elected as State Chairman of the party.
Ekarika who stated this on Thursday at Daaty Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, during his declaration of intent to run for the position noting that he was fully aware of the challenges facing the party in the state. He assured that if given the opportunity, he would bring to bear his experiences in human resources management to better the lot of the APC in Akwa Ibom State.
Dr. Ekarika, who is a former Commissioner in the State and Director-General, 2011 Governorship Campaign Committee, of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, while addressing members of the party said that if elected as State Chairman on Saturday, he would work assiduously for the emergence of His Excellency, Comrade Adams Oshiomole as the National Chairman of the APC.
His speech reads thus in parts: “It is with zeal and a great sense of responsibility that I welcome you, the faithful and loyal Party members today. The purpose of us gathering here today is two folds: Firstly, to dispel the rumour making the rounds that I, Hon. (Dr.) Udoma Bob Ekarika had renounced my ambition of contesting the Akwa Ibom State Chairmanship of our great party – ALL Progressives Congress (APC). There is no gain saying the fact that this is not true. Secondly, to avail me the opportunity to formally and officially indicate my interest in serving you in the capacity as the State Chairman of our great Party- The ALL Progressives Congress (APC), if and when you give me your mandate at the State congress coming up on Saturday the 19th day of May, 2018”.
The State Chairmanship hopeful also used the occasion to lambast the past PDP-led administration in the country for manipulating the 2015 governorship election in the state against the APC but also blamed some leaders of the party who, according to him, abandoned their responsibilities of working for the victory of the party.
“As you are well aware, our Party has not been lucky to form the government at the State level after the last general election despite the well known and impressive performance of our party at the National level. This was due largely to the unprecedented manipulation of the election by the government in power at the time. But we cannot completely and totally heap the responsibility for our failure at the door steps of our opponents. It is a truism that some of us that were saddled with responsibilities failed and or refused to take pro-active steps to pre-empt, these well known manipulations of our enemies which rubbed us of victory in the 2015 general Elections.
My aim, desire, zeal and total determination is to ensure that by the special grace of the Almighty God, this does not happen again come the 2019 General Elections. This therefore, forms the bedrock of presenting myself to you, my faithful loyal party members as a willing instrument for use in achieving that aim. I therefore have no iota of doubt in my mind that I have what it takes to achieve this, especially given the unprecedented and over-whelming support you gave to our party at the 2015 General elections”.
Dr. Ekarika therefore solicited the support of members of APC in the state to enable him give the party a new and effective direction.
“With the zeal in me, the determination and love of our dear State, I will galvanize all members of our Party towards liberating our dear State from backwardness, retrogression and poverty. Join me in this endeavour”
While pouring encomiums on the president of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for vigorously fighting corruption in the country, improving the nation’s economy as well as various face-lifts recorded in all sectors of the nation’s economy, Dr. Ekarika called on Nigerians to accord Mr. President all the necessary support as he sought a re-election come 2019.
