Senator Godswill Akpabio has given the Akwa Ibom State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, some fear to worry about as he declared that another wind of defection will soon sink the PDP in the state.
Speaking with newsmen at his hometown in Ukana, Essien Udim local government area, Senator Akpabio said that PDP in the state will not survive the gale of defection that will rock the party few days to the general elections.
The former governor, who described his defection as “a movement of the South South region” to APC, said the aim was to join forces with President Muhammadu Buhari’s led federal government to attract development to Akwa Ibom State and the South South region.
He maintained that Akwa Ibom is the fastest growing APC state in Nigeria with increase in membership, calling on Akwa Ibomites to join the moving train.
Senator Akpabio stated that President Buhari deserves full support of Akwa Ibomites as he has demonstrated uncommon love for the state by awarding many road projects and also appointed many Akwa Ibom indigenes to key positions in his government.
Akpabio asserted that no federal administration had ever been so benevolent to Akwa Ibom as President Buhari-led government, hence, he deserves total support of Akwa Ibom people in the forthcoming presidential election.
The former Senate Minority Leader further declared that he remains resolute in his pursuance of development and better living condition of Akwa Ibom people, adding that no amount of blackmail, persecution and intimidation can stop him.
Speaking on the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Obong Nsima Ekere possibility to emerge as the consensus candidate for APC, Akpabio said for the sake of equity, justice and fairness, Eket Senatorial District must be supported to complete its eight years in office just like Uyo and Ikot Ekpene senatorial districts.
He called on aspirants from other senatorial districts to wait for their turn and also support Eket Senatorial District to complete its tenure.
Also speaking to newsmen, the deputy head of great Akpabio’s family, Chief Ekan Akpabio had dismissed claims that there are crises and divisions in the family following Senator Akpabio’s defection from the PDP to APC. He said that the Akpabios are together and solid and that there is no division amongst them.
