Akan Weeks: Demands Investigation- As A’Ibom Mourns Dead

Following Saturday’s collapsed church building in Uyo during the bishopric consecration of Apostle Akan Weeks in which more than 100 people lost their lives, a Human Rights Activist, Mr. Saviour Akpan, has berated Nigerian Engineers over substandard projects across the country.

Akpan, who is the State Coordinator of Community Policing Partners, Justice, Security and Democratic Reforms (COMPPART), decried the loss of lives caused by Nigerian Engineers, through cases of collapsed buildings, stressing the need for cursory look at the profession to save the lives of the citizens.

Concerning the collapsed church building, Akpan has called for a full scale investigation that will ensure that everyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law

He also took a swipe on religious leaders who pursue power and fame instead of preaching the gospel.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has confirmed he was inside Reigners Bible Church, when it collapsed on Saturday.

Emmanuel and his deputy escaped death after the building collapsed, during the ordination service of Bishop Akan Weeks.
