Akan Okon Task Youths To Form Cooperative Societies

As part of his effort to key into the Dakkada philosophy vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel and giving the youths of Itu Local Government Area a sense of belonging by making them useful in the society, the Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr. Akan Okon has flagged-off the training and empowerment of hundreds of youths of Itu L.G.A. and beyond targeted at making them employers of labour and self-reliance.

The flagg-off ceremony which took palce last weekend at Mbiakot Community Hall in Itu L.G.A. was witnessed by a cross-sections of youths within and outside the community who stormed the venue of the event to its beam in order to identify with their leader on the gesture.

While delivering his speech, Mr. Akan Okon expressed his happiness over massive turnout of the youths. I never new the skill acquisition programme will receive such boost. I am really impressed by that and am equally moved to redouble my support to you. He said he was spurred by the number of people even across Mbiatok Community and Itu L.G.A. who embraced the gesture, vowing his readiness to expand the programme to accommodate many beneficieries.

He also expressed the surprise that his people were talented in different trades, hence, pointed out that he will partner them with the Akwa Ibom State Government even as he also urged them to coordinate and form themselves into a cooperative group just for them to be accommodated by the State Government empowerment scheme.

Also speaking the organizer of the event who is also the MD/CEO of E&B TV show Mr. Abasiama-Etokakpan commended the sponsor of the programme Mr. Akan Okon for partnering with E&B TV show in their two years anniversary.

According to him, The training programme was part of the occasion to mark the 2years anniversary of the E&B TV show which we also witnessed a thanksgiving service to God at the Holy Ghost Ambassador Church.

My decision to choose Mbiatok Community for this programme was as a result of the immense contribution of the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties Mr. Akan Okon on the support of the E&B TV show, however noted that the training programme which include soap/detergent, air-freshener, beat making, photography and videography, paint, chemical, and ice-cream making, food processing, make-ups, body spray etc. will go a long way in giving the beneficiaries a sense of belonging.

He equally applaud the commissioner for expanding the programme in order to accommodate more youths even as he prayed for Gods blessing upon him.

Highpoint of the event was pouring of encomium on Mr. Akan Okon by the beneficiaries as well as inspection of the different skills where the Commissioner earlier paid an under spot assessment of the E&B TV show office at No. 48 Udobio Street.
