AK PDP Lawmakers, Exco Defect To APC


Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Etim Ekpo Chapter, the home Local Government of PDP National Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, have lost Ward executives and councillors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) .
The Sensor gathered that the recent defections in the Local Government Chapter of the PDP saw Mr. Emmanuel Imahauyom, Ward Chairman, Mr. Ikpongke Peter, Vice Chairman, Uduak Fred Obonikut, Financial Secretary, Mrs Mary Maurice Ido, Women Leader resign their positions from the PDP and announced their defect to the All Progressives Congress.
The defections come shortly after four councillors announced their defections to the All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile, aggrieved People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members in Etim Ekpo have reportedly resolved to leave the party, following what they termed bad leadership. While some of the members have complained that the party is only “structured” to favour some preferred members, others alleged that the leaders of party are implementing an agenda to further their selfish ambition.
According to sources, other councillors have planned their resignation which would be done in batches, beginning from Tuesday, October 30.
One member, who has been prominent in the talks with the leaders of All Progressives Congress, Hon. Emmanuel Akpan confirmed that the members would leave in droves. He is among the latest batch to dump the ruling party in the Local Government Area.
Responding, the Honourable Member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Ekon expressed delight at the defection of the former PDP executives into APC fold, describing the defectors as ‘patriots’ who are committed to rescuing Etim Ekpo and Akwa Ibom at large from the claws of bad governance.
“Our people were killed and chased away from their communities and ancestral homes and the Government of Udom Emmanuel feigned ignorance, despite the cries of every one of us”, he added.
He was optimistic that the looming change in Akwa Ibom state in the forthcoming elections, would bring a final end to what he described as the ongoing maladministration in the state since the coming of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Hon. Comfort Udoidung, Ika PDP chapter officer added that, “For us, it’s about change, we have had maladministration for over three years, its just that change that we want and we’ve all resolved to follow our leaders, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Hon. Emmanuel Ekon. We are ready to get rid of these people who have mismanaged the economy of Akwa Ibom for three years.
