2019: Crisis Looms In Abak Federal Constituency – Plot To Stop Aspirant Leaks – No Need For Protest To Stop Aspirant – Enoidem

The weak and primitive plot by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to instigate crisis in the race for the party’s ticket in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency has been exposed by a source privy to the intrigues.

Embedded in the plot is a protest by youths of the federal constituency mobilised and allegedly sponsored by the council chairmen of Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika, scheduled to take place at Ika council hall, Urua Inyang, on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

The source disclosed that the aim of the plot allegedly crafted by the PDP National Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, is to stop at all costs the member representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives Mr. Emmanuel Ekon, from clinching the party’s ticket for the 2019 National Assembly election.

Giving an insight into the intention of the planned protest, which unfortunately has become an open book, the source revealed that it is to give the impression that Abak Local Government Area must produce the federal constituency’s representative in the National Assembly at all costs.

The highpoint of the protest, according to the source, will be the issuance of a communiqué, which will be presented to the state chapter of PDP in Uyo.

The protest is coming on the heels of several failed attempts to intimidate Ekon, whose tremendous goodwill among his constituents has remained a huge source of concern to the man who wants to stop him.

As part of the plots against Ekon, it was gathered that PDP chapter chairmen of Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika as well as ward chairmen in the federal constituency were instructed by Enoidem not to mobilise their executive for the usual consultation by the lawmaker.

It was also gathered that similar directive was issued last December by Enoidem to PDP chapter and ward officers not to receive the Christmas packages from the lawmaker, but the people were wiser and ignored the obviously ill-intentioned directive despite threats of their removal from office.

Ekon, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Local Content, it was gathered, was not bothered by the antics.

The antics are clearly in breach of the standard practice and general guidelines of political parties as every aspirant has the right to consult the organs of the party unhindered.

However reacting to the said allegation, in a telephone interview with our reporter, the PDP National Legal Adviser said that “I am above protest in politics, whenever said that does not know what to say I know how to stop Emmanuel Ekon, that is not an issue so I don’t need to ask anyone to go and protest. God used people to bring Ekon and God will use people to stop him. Ask those who protest to say who sponsored them”.
